Open War Invitation Letter Triggers Tensions In Alor NTT

The Alor Resort Police, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), asked the local community not to be provoked by an invitation letter from a youth group from West Kampung Welai to youths from Wetabua Village who invited an open war.

"Don't be provoked by the invitation to open war. Don't respond in order to maintain order and security together," said Alor Police Chief AKBP Nur Azhari, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 17.

This was conveyed in connection with the issuance of an invitation letter from the West Welai Village Youth to the Wetabuna Village Youth in Alor Regency who invited an open war using their respective war tools.

In the invitation letter, it is scheduled for an open war to be held today at the Kalabahi minifield which is scheduled for 10.00 WITA today.

Currently, he said, his party has carried out joint patrols of the TNI, Polri and Regional Government to maintain a security and public order situation (kamtibmas) in the area.

He said the Alor Police Framework Pleton team was deployed to vulnerable points, while the Intelligence and Security Unit raised the Wetabuna youth so as not to be provoked.

Until this morning, the condition of the kamabmas in Alor Regency, especially in the two urban villages, he said, was in a conducive condition.

According to him, the open war invitation letter was spread across the community due to previous abuses between the two youth groups.

A youth group from Welai Barat demanded that the police arrest and process the law against the perpetrator of the abuse of a friend.

The police chief said the legal process related to the report was definitely handled and investigators had pocketed the names of the perpetrators.

Responding to the development of this situation, the Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol. Henry Novika Chandra, emphasized that the police would always be present to maintain security and security.

He appreciated the quick steps taken by the Alor Police who were quick to take precautions so that the potential for clashes could be avoided.

Henry quoted a message from the NTT Police Chief so that the entire community would remain restrained and not be provoked by issues that could divide.
