6,118 Joint Personnel Deployed To Secure Ojol Action At The DPR And Monas

Central Jakarta Metro Police said as many as 6,118 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri and DKI Regional Government were deployed to guard demonstrations by online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) at the DPR/MPR Building and Monas area, Wednesday, September 17.

"The strong security forces for demonstrations in the Central Jakarta area are 6,118 personnel," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday morning. Jakarta, Wednesday.

According to him, in Central Jakarta there were demonstrations carried out by ojol drivers and a number of community alliances in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building and the Monas area.

"This security is carried out to maintain the smooth delivery of public aspirations," he said.

Susatyo asked the masses to hold a peaceful and orderly action, in addition, the masses were prohibited from burning tires, destroying public facilities, or closing roads.

"Please express your opinion, but remain in the corridor of law and order. We are here to ensure that everything runs safely and conducively," he said.

Regarding the traffic diversion scenario, the police said it was situational. However, residents are advised to avoid the DPR area during the action and are advised to use alternative routes.

"We ask for the understanding of the community. Safety and comfort together are our priorities," said Susatyo.

On that occasion, he also appealed to the public not to be easily consumed by hoaxes circulating on social media and information that could potentially trigger a commotion.

"Security officers do not carry firearms and serve residents who express their opinions humanely and professionally," he added.

Chairman of the Ojol Garda Indonesia Drivers Association, Raden Igun Wicaksono, said that the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation and DPR/MPR building was targeted by online motorcycle taxi drivers (online/ojol) demonstration locations on Wednesday (17/9) afternoon.
