SERANG - The Banten High Prosecutor's Fugitive Arrest Team (Tabur) managed to arrest a fugitive in a fraud case named Johnny Kainde alias Jonathan in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta, Monday, September 15 evening.

Head of the Legal Information Section of the Banten Prosecutor's Office, Rangga Adekresna, said the arrests were made at around 21.55 WIB after the team conducted an in-depth investigation of the location suspected of being the place where the convict lived.

"Johnny Kainde was successfully secured at his home with a cooperative attitude so that the security process went smoothly," said Rangga as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 17.

Johnny Kainde is a convict in a fraud case based on the decision of the Supreme Court Number 339K/Pid/2023 dated April 3, 2023, which granted the appeal of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Lebak Kejari.

In that decision, he was sentenced to two years in prison for being proven guilty of "joint fraud" as stated in Article 378 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Previously, the Rangkasbitung District Court had released the defendant through decision Number 159/Pid.B/2022/PN Rkb on December 5, 2022.

However, the Public Prosecutor filed an appeal to the Supreme Court, which then canceled the PN's decision and found the defendant guilty.

Johnny Kainde has also been summoned three times by the executor prosecutor of the Lebak Kejari, but has never been present. The Head of the Lebak Kejari then issued a wanted list letter (DPO).

"Based on the request of the Lebak Kejari, the Banten Prosecutor's Office's Tabur Team together with the AGO's Tabur Team carried out the arrest of the DPO," said Rangga.

After being arrested, Johnny Kainde was immediately taken to the Banten Prosecutor's Office for further submission to the Lebak Kejari.

He has now been submitted to the Rangkasbitung Class II Rutan to serve his sentence according to the court's decision.

The Banten Prosecutor's Office emphasized that this success was part of an effort to ensure that every court decision could be executed according to the law.

"We will continue to pursue other fugitives who have not been caught," said Rangga.
