Responding To Sri Mulyani's Plan To Increase BPJS Health Contributions, Commission XI Of The DPR: We Listen To The New Minister Of Finance's Decision

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission XIII DPR RI Mukhamad Misbakhun responded to the plan of the former Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, who will adjust the BPJS Health contribution in 2026. He said, because Sri Mulyani has now been replaced by Purbaya Yudhi Sadives, his party will first listen to the new Minister of Finance's policy plan.

"We will first hear what the new Minister of Finance has decided, Mr. Purbaya in his meeting at commission XI yesterday had two meetings with us. One of his statements is that he will make a new tradition, so we listen to his decision, we give Pak Purbaya the opportunity as the new Minister of Finance," said Misbakhun at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Jakarta, Friday, September 12.

"What is his idea of ideas and talks as a big concept for the Indonesian economy in the future after he was appointed by President Prabowo as Minister of Finance," he continued.

As the head of the financial commission from the Golkar faction, Misbakhun said, his party will support every government policy. Including the increase in BPJS contributions if needed.

"If Golkar as a party supporting the government, whatever the government's decision, we will give it a political strengthening," said the General Chairperson of the SOKSI Ministry.

Nevertheless, Misbakhun assessed that Purbaya had a lot to arrange as the new Minister of Finance. One of them is about taxes.

"We have to listen to the demands of the public regarding this tax. If there is an opportunity, we want this tax rate, for example, this consumption can be lowered. The 11 may be 10 percent, so that this is to encourage, first is to encourage public consumption. Public consumption, if the initial price of the detta was 11 it could be 10, at least that will relieve a little bit, relieve a little of what I mean, and what he has will become more valuable the money he has," he explained.

"And of course this gives encouragement to people's ability to consume more goods," he continued.

Misbakhun hopes that the implication of tax revenue can be closed with an increasing volume. As well as having a positive impact on national economic growth.

"And issues related to growth, because President Prabowo's wish can grow by 8 percent, it can be strengthened how his achievements in the remaining period of 2025 will be achieved in what way, 2026 in what way, until 2029," he concluded.

It is known that the former Minister of Finance gave a signal that he would adjust the BPJS Health contribution in 2026. He said this step was intended to maintain the sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program.

In addition, this adjustment is also sought to be in line with the benefits received by the participants. Sri Mulyani said that the adjustment of BPJS Health dues was intended to maintain the sustainability of the program.

"The sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) will depend heavily on how many benefits are given for participation. If the benefits are increasing, it means that the costs are getting bigger," said Sri Mulyani in a working meeting with the Budget Agency or Banggar DPR in Jakarta, Thursday, August 21.
