Prabowo Leaves For Doha, Express Directly Support Qatar Over Israel's Actions

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto left for Doha, Qatar, from Jakarta, Friday, August 12. The head of state wants to meet with Emir Qatari Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and deliver Indonesia's support directly to Qatar after the Israeli military attacked residential areas in Doha September 9.

Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya, when contacted in Jakarta, Friday afternoon, explained that President Prabowo arrived in Doha immediately met Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al-Thani.

"Today, President Prabowo flew to Doha, Qatar, to meet with Emir Qatar, (Friday) afternoon local time. The president decided to come to Qatar immediately after the Israeli attack on Doha on Tuesday (9/9)," said Seskab Teddy.

Teddy, who accompanied President Prabowo in Doha, continued President Prabowo's visit as a form of Indonesian direct solidarity and support for the government and people of Qatar.

Information received by journalists stated that the presidential plane carrying President Prabowo and Cabinet Secretary Teddy took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base (Lanud), Jakarta, on Friday morning. Arriving in Doha, President Prabowo immediately met Emir Qatar on Friday afternoon.

The Israeli military blew up residential areas in Doha on the pretext of targeting a number of Hamas officials who were gathered to discuss a ceasefire deal, mediated by the United States and Egypt. Israel dropped 10 bombs, and deployed 15 of its warplanes in the attack.

As a result of the attack, five members of the Hamas delegation, and one Qatar security personnel died. Their funeral was held on Thursday (11/9), and the funeral procession was also attended by the Emir of Qatar.

The Qatari government stated that they were preparing a collective response in the region to retaliate against the Israeli attack. "There will be a response from this region. This response is being consulted and discussed with other partners in the region," said Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Wednesday. Qatar is currently also preparing for the Arab-Islam Summit (KTT) which is scheduled to take place on Sunday (14/9).

After the Israeli attack, state leaders also immediately came to Doha to convey their support and solidarity to the Qatari Emir. From the ranks of the coming leaders, including the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then the Crown Prince of Jordania Prince Hussein.
