Beaten By Natural Disasters Until August, China Swallowed 19.6 Billion Yuan Losses

JAKARTA - China was hit by successive natural disasters from the beginning of the year to August 2025. It is estimated that the losses from the natural disaster reached 19.6 billion yuan.

Citing Reuters, the impact of material losses is based on calculations from the Ministry of Disaster Management as of Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

The ministry gave an example, the loss from road damage due to extreme rainfall in most parts of China alone reached more than 16 billion yuan.'

The road damage covered 23 provinces, territories, and municipalities more than two-thirds of China's administrative territory.

As of 27 August 2025, China's state of transportation and finance has poured around 540 million yuan for subsidies to repair emergency roads to affected local governments.

China has also allocated a budget of 5.8 billion yuan for further assistance related to disaster-affected areas since April 2025.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management, floods, landslides, earthquakes, and drought have caused direct economic losses of 52.2 billion yuan only in July 2025.
