YOGYAKARTA - The name Aziz Wellang, who played Domino with King Juli Antoni, suddenly became a public spotlight after a photo showing him playing domino with two ministers of the Red and White cabinet went viral on social media. The two ministers involved in the photo were Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni and Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding.

Aziz Wellang is the President Director of PT ABL, a company engaged in the utilization of industrial plants and forests. In 2024, PT ABL manages an area of 11,580 hectares of concessions. However, this company is suspected of illegal logging that exceeds the limits of the concession area and entering the area without a permit. This illegal activity resulted in around 1,819 m3 illegal timber, which is estimated to cause state losses of Rp. 2.72 billion. As a result, Aziz Wellang along with a number of other people were named suspects by the Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Forestry in November 2024.

However, Aziz Wellang's legal trip did not end there. He submitted a pretrial application to cancel his suspect's status, and on December 9, 2024, the Central Jakarta District Court decided to cancel the determination of the suspect. This decision is contained in the Notice of Termination of Investigation (SP3) issued on February 14, 2025. Meanwhile, Minister Karding explained that the meeting was part of the routine activities of the South Sulawesi Family Harmony (KKSS), where Aziz Wellang was also one of the administrators. The activity, which was held on September 1, 2025, focused on friendship, and one of the activities carried out was playing domino, a tradition from South Sulawesi. Karding revealed that Raja Juli Antoni visited the KKSS post and was invited to play domino with several other KKSS members, including Aziz Wellang. The activity lasted until late at night, but there was no discussion regarding the legal case involving Aziz Wellang.

Although Karding admitted that he did not know Aziz Wellang's legal background, after confirming, he only found out that Aziz was no longer a suspect in the illegal logging case. This domino playing activity seems to focus more on social and cultural meetings without any discussion about legal issues or the ministry's work held by the two ministers.
