Admits Traffic Jams At TB Simatupang Cannot Be Undefined Transjabodetabek, Pramono: I Must Say As It Is

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono claims Transjabodetabek services are able to reduce the level of traffic congestion in Jakarta. This is because many residents of buffer areas switch from private vehicles and use public transportation.

However, Pramono also admitted that there is one area that still experiences long traffic jams and traffic congestion cannot be unraveled by the presence of Transjabodetabek services, namely Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta.

"We already have 6 new routes. This is what makes it significant to reduce congestion, with Transjabodetabek. However, not to make up traffic jams in the most horror place called TB Simatupang. I have to tell you what it is," said Pramono at Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.

Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government has implemented a number of ways to overcome the congestion of TB Simatupang, starting from the narrowing of the excavation project area so that traffic space can be wider open, to asking the government the day after tomorrow to temporarily close the exit of the JORR Cipete-Pondok Labu toll road during peak hours in the afternoon to reduce crossing of vehicles that exacerbate congestion.

Apart from that, Pramono also showcased the achievements of Jakarta, which is now included in the series of cities with the best public transportation in the world according to Time Out.

In 2025, this British travel magazine will be in 17th place in the city with the best public transport service globally.

Time Out explained, from the list of global cities with the best public transportation, only Jakarta and Singapore, cities in Southeast Asia are ranked at the top 19. Pramono said he was proud of this achievement.

"When Time Out, a credible institution conducted a survey of more than 18 thousand in 50 countries regarding public transportation. Jakarta is now number 17 and in ASEAN Jakarta it only lost to Singapore," Pramono explained.

"Why did that happen and get better? I think because the support system is getting better," he added.
