JAKARTA - The Indonesian Council of Mosques (DMI) of DKI Jakarta Province said almost all major mosques in Jakarta, except Istiqlal, held Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri Prayer despite the pandemic.

According to the Chairman of DMI DKI Jakarta KH Makmun Al Ayyubi it was decided because such mosques as Sunda Kelapa Mosque and Jakarta Islamic Center Mosque (JIC) have been preparing it since a long time earlier.

"Almost all and there have been no reports to date that have not done so. Because they have prepared in advance, when it is allowed Friday prayers, tarawih and others," Makmun said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 12.

The most important thing, according to Makmun, is to maintain health protocols when praying in congregation later that is contained in the call of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, ranging from limiting the capacity to only 50 percent, keeping the distance, to limiting only the nearest worshippers from the mosque are allowed.

"The average for prayer Id. But still we tighten the prokesnya. Do not let later violate and after Eid al-Fitr do not let there be new clusters,"Said Makmun.

In monitoring the implementation of the tightening, he said it takes the cooperation of the security forces to the congregation and he hopes the pilgrims can understand the current pandemic situation and not force themselves to pursue prayers in faraway places.

"Yes, those who have prepared in advance, which is difficult to cancel. Please hold it, it still has to be strict and this also needs supervision from the local authorities," he said.

According to him, it takes good cooperation between the authorities, DKM mosque and the leaders of the mosque council to be together and shoulder to shoulder so that the implementation of worship is also carried out properly.
