Commission II Of The DPR Proposes That The Election Bill Be Discussed In The Form Of The Omnibus Law

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Rifqinizamy said that the DPR RI will immediately revise the 2024-2029 Prolegnas, through the Legislation Body (Baleg). Rifqi said Commission II of the DPR proposed a number of bills, one of which was the Election Bill.

"In that position, we propose the Election Bill to be discussed in Commission II of the DPR RI in the form of legal codification and/or omnibus law," said Rifqinizamy at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 8.

"So there are a number of laws that will be discussed, become one law for us to improve our political ecosystem and democracy, including elections in it," he continued.

In addition to the Election Bill, Commission II of the DPR also proposed the ASN Bill to be included in the 2024-2029 Prolegnas. "ASN is in our hands now. Okay, those that are in our hands, yes, we are running now. But we are running slowly so that a comprehensive investigation can be carried out. Don't let this become a bad issue," he said.

"Well, last year's election was not proposed, because we thought that one year was enough for one law. Later next year there will be one more law. Now we are being asked regarding the revision of the 2024-2029 Prolegnas, we propose the Election Bill in the duties and authorities of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission II," he explained.

Rifqi hopes that the Election Bill can be approved for immediate discussion. According to him, the Election Bill can be merged into the form of an omnibus law. Because he said, talking about the electoral ecosystem and democracy, parliamentary institutions are part of the downstream political and democratic processes.

"The beginning of political parties means that we have to fix the laws of political parties. In the middle of the election, there is a Legislative Election, DPR, DPD, DPRD. There is an election for the President, Vice President. There is an election for governors, regents, mayors. We also propose a law on election disputes. This is a new item. So that there is certainty, when is the time, decision, inkrah. And we are trying all election disputes, including in the Constitutional Court, it can end before the inauguration of political officials the election results are carried out," he said.

"So don't let the term of office be different. Just because then waiting for legal certainty. Now finally, of course there will be slight changes in the local government law, including the MD3 law," he concluded.
