Prabowo's Government Promises To Consider All Demands 17+8: Done, But Gradually

JAKARTA - The President's Special Advisor for Political and Security Affairs, Wiranto, emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto would hear and consider the demands of the people who were later voiced through demonstrations in the DPR RI.

According to Wiranto, the aspirations summarized in 17+8 of the People''s Demands will not be ignored by the government. The president certainly listens to it as much as possible. What the public asks will be heard by President Prabowo," he said in his statement, Saturday, September 6.

However, Wiranto reminded that not all demands could be met immediately. The government, he said, must consider the priority scale and the ability to realize it.

"Meeting what is asked is certainly not simultaneous, yes. If all requests are met at once, it's also a hassle," he said.

As is known, the Civil Coalition has formulated 17 short-term demands that are requested to be met within a week, as well as eight long-term demands with a deadline of August 2026.

These demands include the withdrawal of the TNI from civil security, investigation of the death of demonstrators, budget transparency, reform of the DPR and political parties, to improvement of the labor sector.

Wiranto emphasized that President Prabowo is open to dialogue and seeks to resolve various problems raised by the community.

"In principle, the President wants to keep the people's voices respected. It's just a matter of how the implementation is carried out in a realistic manner," he said.

The following is a list of 17+8 of People's Demands:

1. Withdraw the TNI from civilian security and ensure that there is no criminalization of demonstrators. Form a team to investigate the death of Affan Kurniawan, and all demonstrators who were victims of the August 25-31 action3. Freeze the increase in allowances, salaries, and new facilities for DPR4 members. Publicize budget transparency 5. Encourage the DPR Honorary Board to examine problematic members6. Fire or sanctions for political party cadres who are unethical and trigger public outrage7. Announce the party's commitment to side with the people 8. Involve party cadres in dialogue spaces with the public 9. Free all detained demonstrators 10. Stop the repressive actions and excessive violence of the apparatus in escorting the 11 demo.
