West Java Police Investigate Allegations Of Chaos Demo Fund Flow In Bandung

JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (West Java Police) are investigating allegations of a flow of funds and actors behind the wave of protests that led to chaos in the city of Bandung in recent days.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol Rudi Setiawan said the investigation was carried out by utilizing evidence that was secured from a number of people who were arrested during the riots.

"From this digital footprint, we hope to reveal who the actors are, the financiers, and other parties involved. Please pray and support so that it can be revealed soon," said Rudi in Bandung, Wednesday.

Rudi said the evidence would be further examined by involving the National Police Headquarters and a team of forensic digital experts.

He emphasized that the police did not prohibit the public from expressing opinions in public and were ready to carry out escorts as long as the action was carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.

"Please protest according to the provisions, and we will guard it at the specified time. But do not violate the law or commit anarchic acts, because we will definitely take firm action," he said.

The Kapolda added that the prosecution was carried out in a measured manner by referring to the laws and regulations of the National Police Chief and preventive steps in the form of patrols to anticipate potential disturbances in security and social order.

"We follow the laws, the National Police Chief's regulations, and the leadership's instructions. If anyone disturbs public order with anarchic actions, of course we will act according to the rule of law," he said.

Rudi emphasized that his party remains committed to maintaining security and order during the action, while ensuring that the public's right to express opinions remains protected.

"We continue to prioritize persuasive and humanist steps. But if there is anarchic action, of course we will act according to the rule of law," he said.
