Today, National Police Held Hearing On Brimob Officers Who Ran Over Affan Kurniawan

JAKARTA - The National Police (Polri) held a hearing under the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) today for alleged violator Kompol Kosmas, a member of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya).

Kompol Kosmas was found to be involved in the death of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver Affan Kurniawan, who was run over by a tactical vehicle (rantis).

"The trial is currently underway," said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Division, to VOI, Wednesday, September 3.

In this case, Kompol Kosmas is one of two members of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polri) suspected of committing serious violations.

At the time of the runover, Kompol Kosmas was in the front passenger seat, next to the driver.

Brigadier General Agus Wijayanto, Head of the Professional Supervision and Development Bureau (Wabprof) of the National Police's Propam (Propam), stated that for this role, Kompol Kosmas faces sanctions of dismissal or dishonorable discharge (PTDH).

"For serious offenders, the threat of prosecution is PTDH," said Agus.

Meanwhile, one Brimob member also categorized as a serious violation is Brigadier Rohmat. He was driving a tactical vehicle during the series of run-over incidents.

Five other Brimob members categorized as moderate violators, namely First Aipda M. Rohyani, First Brigadier Danang, First Brigadier Mardin, Baraka Jana Edi, and Baraka Yohanes David, will also undergo a KKEP hearing.

However, the trial date for the five alleged violators has not been announced. It was only stated that it will follow the trial of Police Commissioner Kosmas and First Brigadier Rohmat.

"Meanwhile, for the moderate category, it will be after Wednesday and Thursday, and the process is ongoing," said Agus.

Meanwhile, online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver Affan Kurniawan was killed after being run over by a tactical vehicle in the Bendungan Hilir area on August 28, 2025.
