Online Gambling Defendant Backing Komdigi, Zulkarnaen, Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court sentenced defendant Zulkarnaen Apriliantony to seven years in prison in an online gambling case.

"The defendant Zulkarnaen Apriliantony is sentenced to seven years in prison," said Judge Parulian Manik during a hearing at the South Jakarta District Court, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 2.

In addition to the seven-year prison sentence, Zulkarnaen was also fined IDR 1 billion, with the condition that if he fails to pay the fine, he will be replaced with one month in prison.

The judge also sentenced Adhi Kismanto, Alwin Jabarti Kiemas, and Muhrijan alias Agus to five years and six months in prison, respectively.

"They are each sentenced to five years and six months in prison, along with a fine of IDR 500 million," he said.

If each defendant fails to pay the fine, they will be sentenced to one month in prison.

There are four clusters in this online gambling (judol) case. The first cluster comprises the coordinators, with defendants Adhi Kismanto, Zulkarnaen Apriliantony alias Tony, Muhrijan alias Agus, and Alwin Jabarti Kiemas.

The second cluster comprises the former employees of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (now Komdigi), who are also defendants: Denden Imadudin Soleh, Fakhri Dzulfiqar, Riko Rasota Rahmada, Syamsul Arifin, and Yudha Rahman Setiadi.

In addition, Yoga Priyanka Sihombing, Reyga Radika, Muhammad Abindra Putra Tayip N, and Radyka Prima Wicaksana are also indicted.

Furthermore, the cluster comprises the managers of the judol website agents. The defendants are Muchlis, Deny Maryono, Harry Efendy, Helmi Fernando, Bernard alias Otoy, Budianto Salim, Bennihardi, Ferry alias William alias Acai.

Then, in the money laundering (TPPU) cluster, Rajo Emirsyah and Darmawati.
