Police Arrest 4 Intruders Carrying Sharp Weapons During Student Demonstration at the South Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council

PALEMBANG - The Palembang Police, South Sumatra, arrested four infiltrators during a student demonstration at the South Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD).

Palembang Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Harryo Sugihhartono, stated that some of the individuals were named because they were carrying sharp weapons and were not students.

"Earlier, it was suspected that there were four infiltrators during the student demonstration carrying sharp weapons. We have secured them and are currently processing them," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 1.

He explained that the four arrested perpetrators were not minors, but adults.

"The perpetrators are not minors, but adults, and they are not students participating in the demonstration," he explained.

Police and Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel continued to guard the demonstration, ensuring that no infiltrators disrupted the event.

"We also instilled trust in our colleagues. Therefore, if they ever repeat their opinions, we will certainly welcome them," said Harryo.

The student demonstration ended peacefully at 16.00 WIB with an agreement that the South Sumatra DPRD would schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss concrete steps to monitor the demands.
