Prabowo Orders The National Police Chief To Raise The Rank Of Police Victims Of Ricuh Demo

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto ordered National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo to give extraordinary promotions to police officers who were victims in a series of demonstrations that led to chaos in a number of areas.

"I conveyed to the National Police Chief that I asked all officers to be promoted. They were extraordinary because they served in the field to defend the country, defend the people, deal with elements," Prabowo said after visiting the victim at the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Monday.

The President said that there were 43 victims as a result of the action being treated at the Police Hospital, consisting of more than 40 police officers and the community. Of that number, most have been allowed to go home, while 17 people are still being treated, including 14 members of the National Police and three civilians.

Some of the victims suffered serious injuries, such as head injuries to handheld surgery replaced by titanium, a broken hand that was successfully connected, to a victim who suffered kidney damage after being trampled on and now has to undergo dialysis.

Prabowo also highlighted the casualties from civil society in demonstrations that occurred in a number of areas, including a woman who broke her bone when her motorbike was seized by rioters and four state civil servants (ASN) in South Sulawesi who were victims, although they were not involved in politics or demonstrations.

According to the President, the police have carried out the task of maintaining security and order in the field.

The Head of State emphasized that the police are obliged to protect the demonstrations carried out peacefully. "If the demonstrators are purely good, the authorities must protect them," he said.

However, the President assessed that a number of actions had been infiltrated by group rioters with the aim of destroying public facilities, burning DPR and DPRD buildings, and injuring the authorities.

"The intention is not to express opinions, the intention is to cause chaos, disrupt people's lives, destroy national development efforts," said Prabowo.

In addition to the promotion order, Prabowo also requested that the victims receive other awards in the form of additional educational opportunities and full support for their families.

"So as the Head of State, the Head of Government, I feel that they have to look for them, their families, their parents, their children there, I thank the state, I ordered them to be rewarded, promoted, to school," said the President.
