JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Service (DKPKP) Hasudungan Sidabalok revealed that two markets in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, had been closed due to the riots at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, some time ago.

This, admitted Hasudungan, also had an impact on the closure of cheap food outlets in the two markets.

"Yang ditutup itu kemarin di Senen, ya. Di Senen, di Pasar Senen, dan di Poncol. Ya, di Gerai Poncol. Dekat-dekat Senen juga itu, karena dekat (dengan lokasi aksi unjuk rasa)," ungkap Hasudungan di Balai Kota DKI Jakarta, Senin, 1 September.

However, currently all markets including food outlets in Jakarta have returned to normal operations. So, people can again buy cheap food in all subsidized food outlets.

"Indeed, yesterday's total for subsidized food, there were 213 subsidized food exchange sites for KJP Plus holders, two outlets that were closed yesterday. Now everything is operational," he explained.

Hasudungan emphasized that food stocks in Jakarta are safe for the next two months.

"We from the DKI government guarantee that our food availability is sufficient for 2 months later. The stock is also adequate," said Hasudungan.

He appealed to the people of Jakarta not to panic and buy up large quantities of food to potentially experience a shortage of stocks.

"For food, yes, especially strategic foods such as rice, egg meat, milk, beef, chicken meat, that's for 2 months later our stock is sufficient. So, people don't need panic buying," he added.
