Elected As General Chair Of PWI 2025'30, Akhmad Munir Affirms Commitment To Modernization

Bekasi The 2025 Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Congress (PWI) in Cikarang established a new leadership. The President Director of LKBN ANTARA, Akhmad Munir, was officially elected as the General Chair of PWI 2025 '2030 after pocketing 52 votes, ahead of Hendry Ch. Bangun who won 35 votes. Meanwhile, Atal S. Depari is again trusted to lead the Honorary Council with 44 votes, defeating Sihono HT who received 42 votes.

In his inaugural speech, Munir emphasized the new direction of PWI. "We will jointly strengthen the role of PWI as a modern organization, protect press freedom, as well as improve the professionalism and welfare of journalists," he said.

Atal added, the Honorary Council will stand as a moral bulwartan. "Wartawan must work according to the code of ethics and the principle of democracy. That is how to maintain the dignity of the organization," he said.

Munir also expressed his appreciation to Komdigi and the Press Council who were present to give full support. "Their presence is a moral boost as well as a reminder that the press has a big responsibility for the nation," he said.

Atal is in rhythm. He considered that close collaboration between PWI, the Press Council, and the government was the key to maintaining the quality of democracy.

This congress is not only a matter of contestation, but also shows togetherness. Since the opening, the atmosphere has been warm with the presence of Deputy Minister of Komdigi Nezar Patria, Director General of Public Communication and Media Komdigi Fifi Aleyda Yahya, Chairman of the Press Council Komaruddin Hidayat, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council Totok Suryanto who is also Steering Committee, and member of the Press Council Dahlan Dahi.

With the new leadership, PWI is expected to appear as a modern, solid, and strategic press organization, as well as become an important pillar of Indonesian democracy.
