Many Travelers Break Through The Insulation, COVID-19 Task Force: Don't Break The Homecoming Ban

JAKARTA - The Spokesman of Task Force Wiku Adisasmito asked that the public no longer recklessly break through the insulation carried out by the police.

This was conveyed by the COVID-29 Task Force in response to a viral video of the blockade being broken into by travelers. Wiku regrets the actions of the people who still force their homecoming in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic to spread out with their families.

"I deeply regret that the reckless community broke through the police blockade", Wiku said in a press conference posted on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account on Tuesday, May 11.

The COVID-19 task force asked the public to understand that the sealing is part of the homecoming ban policy. This prohibition, he continued, should be fulfilled by all parties without exception.

"Therefore I ask that the public do not engage in activities that violate this policy and potentially get legal consequences or this policy for the common good and in preventing the transmission of COVID-19", said Wiku.

Wiku said people should limit themselves not to do homecoming because there is a potential increase in cases if this is done. Even so, this potential is only read at two to three weeks after the homecoming activities are carried out.

"In principle, there is a potential increase in cases if the community continues to force themselves to do homecoming. Because they have the opportunity to contract and transmit COVID-19", he said.

As for the homecoming community, Wiku asked the local government to quarantine for 5 days. This must be done to prevent the transmission of the virus in the community.

"I ask the local government and awareness center to quarantine for 5x24 hours for people who come from outside the area, to prevent transmission by optimizing through postage in the village", he said.

Previously reported, Jakarta Metro Police will tighten the sealing scheme related to the ban on homecoming. This tightening is the aftermath of the viral video of the polluters who managed to escape from the insulation post in the Kedungwaringin area.

"We will add from the TNI-Police we have already met we will increase the strength. Add more personnel", Jakarta Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Yusri Yunus told reporters on Monday, November 10.

In addition to the addition of personnel, in this tightening, continued Yusri, there will be a scheme to add an insulation post every few kilometers. That is, the riders will be checked repeatedly.

"So every entry every 3 kilometers there will be a sealing or per 5 kilometers there is an insulation blocked until later return", said Yusri.
