JAKARTA - The Branch Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) together with the city government, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Surabaya city carried out rukyatul-hilal to determine 1 Syawal 1442 Hijri in the highest place in the City of Heroes, namely One Icon Residence, Tuesday, May 11, afternoon.

"Rooftop One Icon was chosen as a place of rukyat because in addition to high, the view towards the horizon is free, not blocked by buildings or other objects," said Chairman of PCNU Surabaya Muhibbin Zuhri reported by Antara.

The building, which is located in tunjungan plaza 6 complex, has 54 floors with a height of more than 200 meters. Pcnu rukyat team will conduct moon observations on the rooftop of this building starting at 16.00 WIB.

As is known, NU as a religious social organization makes rukyatul hilal or see the moon factually as a reference for determining the beginning of the month. This reference is also used by the government, in this case the Ministry of Religion in determining the start of fasting and eid.

Muhibbin Zuhri explained, for Muslims, including nu citizens, rukyat activities are "ta'abbudi" or in the framework of worship because it is ordered by the prophet.

"So, it has to be taken seriously," he said.

According to him, the method of reckoning is still used as an important tool and reference on the rukyatul hilal, such as imkanur-ru'yah (the possibility of the moon can be seen) with conjunction data, the height of the moon, and so on.

The rukyatul hilal event will also be attended by The Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi who is also the initiator of the determination of the place of rukyatul-hilal.

"When rukyat the beginning of Ramadan and then he was present to provide support for the appointment of this place by the Ministry of Religion and God willing this afternoon, he has confirmed that he will be present as well, both as a manager of PCNU and as mayor," he said.
