Press Syndicate Warns Of Dangers Of Israeli Media Incitement To Kill Palestinian Journalists

JAKARTA - The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) on Thursday warned of a systematic wave of incitement led by Israeli journalists and media figures, with the support of Israeli political, military and judicial institutions, targeting Palestinian journalists working in the Gaza Strip.

The syndicate's statement said the open incitement, which has escalated to an explicit call to kill journalists and justify their targeting, reflects Israel's systematic policy aimed at silencing the truth and covering up war crimes committed by Israeli occupation of civilians.

PJS emphasized that Palestinian journalists have fulfilled their professional and ethical duties to convey the truth to the world, and that targeting them constitutes war crimes and blatant violations of international humanitarian law, as well as international conventions on the protection of journalists, quoted from WAFA Aug. 28.

The syndicate urges international institutions, particularly the United Nations (UN), to take a clear and urgent stance in order to stop continued incitement and attacks against Palestinian journalists, ensure their protection, and hold those responsible accountable, in accordance with UN Security Council 2222's Resolution on the protection of journalists in armed conflict.

The syndicate also praised the international position that condemned crimes committed against journalists by the Israeli occupation, particularly the International Journalists Federation, as well as the growing global solidarity with Palestinian journalists.
