Denies Resigning From DPR, Pasha Ungu: I'm Still Here

JAKARTA - The issue of a surprising circulation of musician and member of the House of Representatives Sigit Purnomo Said or Pasha 'Ungu' reportedly resigned from the parliamentary seat. However, he denied the news.

Pasha 'Ungu' conveyed this clarification while attending a discussion meeting on the revision of the Hajj and Umrah Law with Commission VIII at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, August 25.

"It's not true (resigning from the DPR RI), the proof is that today there was a meeting, right?" said Pasha 'Ungu' when met by the media crew.

According to him, he never made a statement implying that he would withdraw from the DPR. He admitted that he was surprised why the issue could spread widely in the community.

"I never felt that I would resign from the DPR. So, what should be clarified? Moreover, I can't control the news, but what is certain is that the news is not true," he added.

The former vocalist of the band Ungu emphasized that his decision to enter politics was not just a trial. He admitted that he had carried out the big mandate of his voters and could not easily release them.

"I have a responsibility, a big mandate from the community, especially my electoral district (electoral district), to represent their aspirations. If not for one year, suddenly playing back, I think it's less than a knight," he said.

With this statement, Pasha 'Ungu' closed speculation about his intention to resign. He ensured that he would continue to carry out his duties as a representative of the people and be actively involved in the legislative process, including the discussion of the Hajj and Umrah Bill.
