Indonesian Citizens Shot At RI-Timor Leste Border

KUPANG - Commander of the RI Border Security Task Force (Dansatgas Pamtas) Lieutenant Colonel Arh Reindi Trisetyo Nugroho said an Indonesian citizen (WNI) from North Central Timor Regency (TTU) named Paulus Oki was shot at the RI-Timor Leste border.

"The shooting incident in the Inbate area, Bikomi Nillat District, North Central Timor Regency (TTU) occurred when there was a conflict between Indonesian citizens from the TTU and Timor Leste foreigners on land disputed between Indonesia and Timor Leste (25/8)," said Dansatgas Pamtas as reported by ANTARA, Sein, August 25.

As a result of the shooting, one person was injured. It is certain that the victim was shot by rubber bullets.

"It's not a live bullet so the condition of the wound is only minor injuries," he said.

After the incident on Monday (25/8), his party together with Forkompimda in North Central Timor Regency (TTU) have gone to the scene of the incident (TKP) to process the crime scene (TKP).

It is not yet known who the perpetrator of the shooting of the Indonesian citizen was.

"Currently we have not been able to convey further regarding this incident, while we are still investigating the case by examining a number of witnesses," he said.

The land contested by Indonesian citizens from the TTU and Timorese Leste residents is a disputed land that has long been disputed between Indonesia and Timor Leste.

In addition to land in TTU, land conflicts between Indonesia and Timor Leste also occurred in the Kupang Regency area, namely in Naktuka, which until now has not been resolved.
