DPR And Government Agree To Form A Ministry Of Hajj, Dahnil: We Are Ready To Carry Out The President's Order

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives and the Government have approved the change of the Hajj Organizing Body (BPH) to become a ministry contained in the revision of the Hajj and Umrah Law (UU Hajj and Umrah).

Responding to this, Deputy Head of BP Haji Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that his party was ready to follow the orders of the law and President Prabowo Subianto.

"In principle, we are ready to carry out orders from the law and the President," Dahnil told reporters, Monday, August 25.

"For better service and management of Indonesia's attention, it is comfortable and safe and free from manipulation and corruption, according to President Prabowo's wishes and commitments," he continued.

According to Dahnil, the formation of the Ministry of Hajj is the right step because it can facilitate the diplomacy of the Indonesian government with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

"The decision to make BPH of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is the right decision to meet the needs of Hajj pilgrims and Hajj diplomacy with the Saudi Arabian kingdom for Muslims in Indonesia," he said.

Dahnil also believes that the Ministry of Hajj will later be filled by the best human resources (HR), with high competence and integrity.

"Of course those who are already at BP Haji will and from outside with the conditions according to the needs of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah later," he said.

Regarding the figure of minister and deputy minister at the Ministry of Hajj, the former spokesman for Prabowo Subianto gave it completely to the president.

"That is the authority of the President. We follow orders," said Dahnil.

As is known, the DPR and the government are currently working on a revision of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah which is targeted for ratification on August 26, 2025.

One of the points agreed upon is the establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to replace the Hajj Organizing Body (BP). The agreement was taken at the DPR and government Commission VIII Working Meeting on Friday, August 22.
