DKI Provincial Government Discourses On Building Underpass/Flyover Unravel Congestion At TB Simatupang

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has compiled a number of steps to overcome the problem of congestion on Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta, and the surrounding roads.

One of the medium-term options discussed is the construction of underpasses or flyovers at large intersections along Jalan TB Simatupang to control traffic flow.

Deputy Coordinator of Special Staff for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Yustinus Prastowo, revealed that this was revealed in a limited meeting chaired by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung some time ago.

"Mr. Governor Pramono Anung held a limited meeting to obtain a complete field report, formulate a solution, as well as provide instructions," said Yustinus in his statement, Monday, August 25.

Yustinus apologized for the inconvenience to the community due to congestion in the Simatupang TB area. This is because currently there are a number of excavation projects that have been carried out and have resulted in traffic congestion.

"To the citizens of Jakarta, we apologize for the inconvenience that has occurred. We also urge the public to switch to public transportation so that the volume of vehicles on the road can be reduced," he said.

The DKI Provincial Government has also started to run a short-term solution to unravel congestion in TB Simatupang. One of them is cutting the sidewalk for a while so that it can be used as an additional road body.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that he had approved the plan.

"I agree to that, even when I wanted to close or open the toll outlet, I gave it up. The most important thing is that the congestion inside is resolved," Pramono said on Saturday, August 23.

According to Pramono, the use of sidewalks to widen roads that are covered by excavation projects at TB Simatupang is a fairly effective way. After all, he sees the condition of the pedestrian path there that is uncomfortable for pedestrians to pass.

"Right now, in TB, the pedestrians are actually not happy, because almost 50 meters of roads have national projects and that must be fixed," Pramono explained.

On the one hand, the DKI Provincial Government is also trying to accelerate the completion of the ongoing excavation project, namely the 7 km IPALD Perumda Paljaya project in Cilandak and the 4 km Tanjung Barat Flat pipeline project. These two important projects are targeted for completion in October and November 2025.
