JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is trying to follow up on reports from residents regarding congestion in the Simatupang TB area, Cilandak, South Jakarta. There will be a short and medium-term handling plan to address the problem.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Coordinator of Special Staff for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Yustinus Prastowo after holding a limited meeting with a number of officials from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Saturday, August 23.

"Mr. Governor Pramono Anung held a limited meeting to get a complete field report, formulate a solution, and at the same time give instructions," he said, quoted by ANTARA on Sunday, August 24.

According to Yustinus, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared steps for handling the short and medium term, namely conducting a thorough evaluation of the ongoing excavation project, such as the 7 km period of Perumda Paljaya Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL) project in Cilandak and the 4 km long Tanjung Barat Flat pipeline project.

"These two important projects are targeted for completion in October and November 2025," he said.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government has instructed PAM Jaya and Paljaya to accelerate work with a non-stop 24-hour system, shorten project fences, place flagman and other technical steps.

The DKI Provincial Government, he said, is also coordinating with the central government to regulate opening and closing toll exits during peak hours to reduce the accumulation of vehicles.

The DKI Provincial Government will also take advantage of the area that is still available as a stop or temporary parking so that public transportation does not accumulate on the side of the road when raising and lowering passengers and temporarily using sidewalks in the affected area of the project to widen roads, especially at the bottleneck, considering that sidewalks at that location are currently unable to be used by pedestrians.

To overcome congestion on Jalan TB Simatupang, said Yustinus, the DKI Provincial Government will strengthen integrated field coordination between the Police, the Transportation Service, Satpol PP, MRT Jakarta, Transjakarta, and other relevant agencies.

Not only that, he continued, the DKI Provincial Government will also work with Google and other navigation platforms to show up-to-date information about ongoing projects, as well as provide alternative routes for road users.

For long-term solutions, the DKI Provincial Government will review the construction of underpasses or flyovers at large intersections along Jalan TB Simatupang to control traffic flow.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that these steps can immediately unravel congestion and provide comfort for road users in the Simatupang TB area," said Yustinus

He also apologized for the inconvenience caused by traffic jams in the Simatupang TB area.

"To the citizens of Jakarta, we apologize for the inconvenience that has occurred. We also urge the public to switch to public transportation so that the volume of vehicles on the road can be reduced," he said.
