Indonesian Weather August 24: Java, Sumatra, To Papua Potentially Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that a number of major cities in Indonesia generally have the potential to experience light to moderate rain on Sunday, August 24.

"On the islands of Java, Serang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya, it has the potential to be shrouded in thick clouds. Meanwhile, Jakarta, Bandung, and Semarang have the potential to experience light rain," said BMKG forecaster Andika Hapsari, quoted by ANTARA Jakarta.

In Sumatra, areas that have the potential to receive light to moderate rain are Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung.

Meanwhile, Aceh has the potential to be shrouded in clouds. Tanjung Pinang and Bengkulu have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

"For Bali, Kupang, and Mataram, it is predicted to be thick cloudy," he said.

Furthermore, on the island of Kalimantan light to moderate rain has the potential to occur in Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, and Tanjung Selor. Meanwhile, Pontianak has the potential for thunderstorms.

Moving to the Sulawesi area, Mamuju City has the potential to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning. Meanwhile, Palu, Gorontalo, Manado, Kendari, and Makassar have the potential to experience light to moderate rain.

In Eastern Indonesia, it generally has the potential to experience light to moderate rain such as in Sorong, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, Merauke, Ambon, Ternate, and Manokwari. Meanwhile, Nabire has the potential to experience heavy rain.
