JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, ensured that the DPR would accelerate to resolve the revision of the Law (UU) on Copyright within two months, in order to resolve the copyright royalties that are currently happening.

Actually, he said, the revision of the Copyright Law had been in the DPR since last year which was planned by the Legislation Body and the DPR's Expert Body. However, he said, the revision was not completed due to a tug of interest.

"I am sure that with today's meeting, with the good intentions of all, and all will be included in the formulating team, God willing, in approximately two months I think it can be finished well," said Dasco at the DPR building, Thursday, August 21.

On the other hand, according to him, interested parties have also agreed that currently the royalty withdrawal delegation will be centered at the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN), after previously being carried out by a number of LMKs.

According to Dasco, LMK-LMK will also be audited in order to prioritize transparency of royalty withdrawal activities carried out so far.

"Artis, songwriters, as well as singers, as well as from the Collective Management Institute, we will include them as a formulating team in formulating the Copyright Law specifically related to royalty issues," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Commission XIII DPR Willy Aditya said that the revision of the law was a commitment and quick response from the government and the DPR to resolve the royalties polemic that is currently happening.

"This is not a new item, it has been included in the National Legislation Program (National Legislation Program) for a long time, but it has surfaced today," Willy said as quoted by ANTARA.
