National Weather Dominated By Rain, BMKG Reminds Potential Lightning In Several Cities

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather in big cities in Indonesia is dominated by cloudy weather and rain with various intensity today, Wednesday, August 20.

BMKG forecaster Efa Septiani said cloudy and thick cloudy conditions have the potential to occur in Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Padang, accompanied by light rain in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang as well as potential lightning in Bandar Lampung.

"For Java Island, light rain is forecasted, but the intensity of each city is different. Like Serang, Semarang and Yogyakarta, light rain is forecasted, but it is necessary to watch out for those who are active outside the room in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, forecast rain accompanied by lightning," explained Efa, quoted by ANTARA.

For the regions of Nusa Tenggara and Bali, he continued, cloudy weather is predicted to be experienced in the Denpasar and Mataram areas, as well as sunny and cloudy in the Kupang area.

Efa explained that for the Kalimantan region, there is the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, and Samarinda, as well as light rain in Pangka Raya and Banjarmasin.

On the island of Sulawesi, he said, only Makassar is predicted to experience thick cloudy weather. Meanwhile, Palu, Mamuju, Manado, and Kendari, have the potential to experience light rain and there is a possibility of moderate rain in Gorontalo.

BMKG also predicts the potential for rain in eastern Indonesia, including predicting light rain in Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Jayawijaya, and Merauke. It is also predicted that there will be moderate rain in Sorong and thunderstorms in Nabire.
