Mainland Temperature In Aceh Hot, BMKG Reminds No Matter How Small A Fire Can Be A Disaster

ACEH - The dry season has not yet moved, and Aceh is again on the edge of the coal. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of the potential for forest and land fires (karhutla) in the western coast of Aceh, as last week hit West Aceh.

"The potential for land fires can still occur in August," said Almira Aprilianti, Meulaboh-Nigan Raya BMKG Station Prakirati, Antara, Tuesday, August 19.

The sky is almost without clouds, the gusts of weak winds, and the heat of the sun make the temperature of the mainland of Aceh even hotter.

In this condition, the slightest fire such as cigarette butts, burning garbage, or land that is cleared by burning can spread to a disaster.

BMKG appealed to residents of West Aceh, Nagan Raya, and its surroundings not to clean gardens or fields by burning.

Just one spark, and the forest can disappear, the house can burn, the air can smoke.

Satellite imagery shows that the dry season will still survive on the west-south coast of Aceh throughout August 2025, without heavy rains to relieve the heat.
