Sad News, Sports Figure And NasDem Politician IGK Manila Dies

JAKARTA - Sports and administrators in the NasDem Party, Major General (ret) I Gusti Kompyang (IGK) Manila died in Jakarta.

The sad news was conveyed by the Secretary-General of the NasDem Party, Hermawi Taslim.

According to him, the body of IGK Manila died at the Bunda Hospital and will be dispatched to the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital, Jakarta.

"Together, we convey the Sad News. We have passed away to the presence of God Almighty, Major General (Ret.) I Gusti Kompyang (IGK) Manila," Hermawi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 18.

He said the bodies would be buried in the Aula of the State Defense Academy (ABN) of the NasDem Party in the Pancoran area, Jakarta, in order to provide opportunities for his family, friends, and relatives to convey their last respects.

"The body will be taken to the ABN Hall and is expected to arrive at 14.00 WIB, Monday, August 18, 2025," he said.

On Wednesday (20/8) at 11.00 WIB, the body will be dispatched from ABN to Gatot Soebroto Hospital for the cremation procession. Before the departure of cremation, an overabundance ceremony will be held in ABN as a tribute to the services and services of the deceased to the nation and state.

"May God Almighty accept all the deeds of worship of the deceased, forgive all mistakes, and give the best place by His side," he said.

Based on the official website of the NasDem Party, IGK Manila was born in Singaraja Bali July 8, 1942. In addition to the military environment, the man who is familiarly called Opa Manila is also known as an Indonesian football legend.

He successfully brought the Indonesian Football National Team to win the 1991 SEA Games in Manila, Philippines. In 1982, Manila was assigned to Commander of Operation Ganesha to move hundreds of elephants from the South Sumatra Water Sugihan transmigration area to the Lampung Black Lebong for about 70 km.

Now, Manila is a board member of the central leadership of the NasDem Party, with the position of Governor of the NasDem State Defense Academy.
