MPR Chair: Corruption Is Not Just A Crime Of Law, But A Betrayer Of Independence

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani appreciated the legal action related to corruption in the era of the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's administration. According to him, the current prosecution of corruption has become more assertive.

This was conveyed by Muzani in the annual session of the MPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

"MPR appreciates the serious efforts made by the Government in taking action against corruption cases through law enforcement officers that are increasingly firm," said Muzani.

According to Muzani, corruption is not just a legal crime, but is also a betrayal of independence and democracy.

"Because corruption is not just a legal or financial crime. It is a betrayal of the spirit of independence and democracy," he said.

Muzani emphasized that corruption has undermined the country's legitimacy and destroyed the hopes of future generations. He said acts of corruption had tarnished the spirit of nationality.

Therefore, he supports the steps taken by the Prabowo Subianto government to continue to take action against corruption cases with increasingly firm law enforcement.

"This is the first step that should be consistently supported by all parties," concluded Muzani.
