MPR Chair Affirms Indonesia's Support For Palestine's Independence

JAKARTA - MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani alluded to the support for Palestinian independence in the MPR RI's annual session at the Parliament Complex, today, Friday 15 August.

"At the momentum of the 80th anniversary of Indonesia's independence, it turns out that we live in a world that is still full of suffering and loss. In the midst of our happiness, millions of people in other parts of the earth have lost their basic rights. Namely the right to life, the right to own a house, and even the right to welcome the future," said Muzani in his speech at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

Currently, continued Muzani, all eyes of the world are witnessing the increasing tensions in various parts of the world, such as in the middle east, especially between Iran and Israel. The world is also witnessing prolonged conflict and barbarity that meets the requirements for elements of genocide in Gaza, Palestine.

"Almost 100,000 lives were lost, the majority of them were women and children, and hospitals and schools were destroyed leaving the rubble of despair," said Muzani.

Therefore, the chairman of the Gerindra Party Honorary Council emphasized that Indonesian foreign politics must continue to side with the humanitarian struggle, including consistent firm support for the independence of the Palestinian nation.

"We have proven that commitment through various international forums such as the Asia Africa conference, the non-block movement which is an international monument and is now an inspiration to many nations in the world," explained Muzani.

"Therefore, the MPR welcomes the efforts made by President Prabowo Subianto who always voiced peace in various international forums on new world governance, including his support for the independence of the Palestinian nation," he concluded.
