The Central Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has detained a lecturer at the Yogyakarta Gajah Mada University (UGM) with the initials HU, a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the purchase of fictitious cocoa beans by PT Pagilaran, worth IDR 7 billion in 2019.
Assistant for Special Crimes at the Central Java Prosecutor's Office, Lukas Alexander Sinuraya, said the suspect was the Director of Business Development and Incubation at UGM Yogyakarta who approved the payment for the alleged fictitious cocoa purchase.
"PT Pagilanan has submitted a disbursement of the cocoa procurement, while the suspect without checking has approved and processed the payment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 13.
He explained that the alleged corruption in the purchase of fictitious cocoa beans stems from the development of the Yogyakarta UGM Business and Incubation with PT Pagilaran for Cocoa Teaching and Learning Industry (CTLI).
PT Pagilaran is a company owned by UGM as the manager of a tea factory and plantation located in Batang Regency.
PT Pagilaran then submitted a disbursement of the cocoa seed procurement contract to UGM using incorrect documents.
"The cocoa beans purchased were never sent to CTLI UGM," he added.
