Search Vessel Benur Overturned In Cilacap Waters, 2 Crew Members Successfully Evacuated

The joint SAR team evacuated two victims of the Jaya Sentosa 07 boat which capsized due to being hit by high waves in the waters of Turtle Bay, Cilacap Regency, Central Java.

"The two victims were successfully evacuated safely. They consist of Sayidin (39) and Nain (41), residents ofILap Village, Pangenan District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, who are crew members of the boat," said Head of the Search and Rescue Office (KPP/Basarnas) Cilacap M Abdullah in Cilacap, Wednesday, confiscated by Antara.

He said the incident occurred when the fry search boat was on its way back to the Cilacap Ocean Fisheries Port (PPS) on Wednesday, 12.30 WIB.

However, while in front of the Kaliyasa PPS Cilacap River estuary, suddenly the boat engine died and at the same time there was a high wave.

"The high wave immediately hit the boat and overturned," he said.

After receiving the incident report, his party immediately mobilized Basarnas personnel and other potential SARs to the scene to provide assistance.

The two victims were successfully evacuated by the joint SAR team. The SAR team then took him to the mainland at 13:10 WIB for a medical examination.

In addition to evacuating the crew, the joint SAR team also helped pull the boat over to the mainland.

"With the evacuation of all crew members along with the boat that capsized, the SAR operation was declared complete and all elements involved were returned to their respective units," Abdullah said.

On a separate occasion, Head of the BMKG Technician Group of Meteorological Station Tunggul Wulung Cilacap, Teguh Wardoyo, appealed to all marine service users to be aware of the potential for high waves in the waters south of Central Java on Wednesday for the next few days.

"The high wave level in the southern waters of Central Java, especially the southern waters of Cilacap, on Wednesday, August 13 to the next few days has the potential to reach the range of 2.5-4 meters which are categorized as high," he said.
