Citra Regent Pitriyami Stands With Pangandaran Residents Reject Floating Net Cages On The East Coast

Pangandaran - Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami stated that he is ready with residents to reject the existence of floating net cages (KJA) in the East Coast area, Pangandaran Regency, West Java, which is considered detrimental to the community's economy, especially the tourism sector.

"I have received aspirations from representatives of tourism actors, I as the regional head are ready to accompany them," said Citra while attending a meeting of the Pangandaran community who rejected KJA at the Susi Air Beach Strip, Pangandaran, Antara, Wednesday, August 13.

Citra said the Pangandaran Regency Government had followed up on community demands and submitted them to the Governor of West Java.

"The governor is also ready to support us all," he said.

He hopes that the public's refusal can be conveyed in a good way without disturbing regional security and comfort. According to him, Pangandaran as a tourism area must be jointly guarded so as not to harm the community itself.

"I only entrust it, we maintain conduciveness, we must not be anarchic, not anarchic, the important thing is that our goals are achieved," he said.

Citra added that the KJA permit is the authority of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. However, the Pangandaran Regency Government is ready to follow up on the aspirations of the people who reject the existence of the cage.

"If it is disturbing, I am ready to accompany you. Hopefully, it will be according to our plan," he said.

Previously, various Pangandaran community groups held actions and declarations against KJA on the East Coast. They assessed that the existence of the cage interfered with the activities of fishermen and beach tourism actors.

The declaration was attended by the Regent of Citra Pitriyami, former Pangandaran Regent Jeje Wiriadinata, former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, and a number of community leaders. The crowd asked the government to immediately revoke the KJA permit in the area.
