JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) has sent a notification letter to the House of Representatives (DPR) regarding the retirement of Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat.
"Yes and all the stages are in the DPR, yes," said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo when met at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.
Suhartoyo was reluctant to comment further on the encouragement of a number of parties to pay attention to women's representation in the composition of constitutional judges.
"There is no (comment) because it is not required in the Basic Law and the law on its implementing rules," he said.
Arief Hidayat is a constitutional judge on the path of the DPR who was born on February 3, 1956. The chairman of the MK for the 2015 '2018) period is now 69 years old.
In accordance with Article 23 paragraph (1) letter c of Law Number 7 of 2020 concerning the Constitutional Court, constitutional judges are respectfully dismissed if they are 70 years old. Thus, Arief Hidayat will retire in February 2026.
Based on Article 26 paragraph (1) of the Constitutional Court Law, the Constitutional Court is obliged to notify the competent authorities regarding constitutional judges who will be dismissed no later than six months before entering retirement.
