JAKARTA - Perumda PAM Jaya recorded a new surge in piped water services after 2.5 years of water privatization ended or from early February 2025 to mid-2025.

"Since February 2023, PAM Jaya has taken full control of the management of piped drinking water services from both former private partners, the company's performance has shown a sharp increase," said PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin in his statement, Wednesday, August 13.

Prior to the 100 percent management by PAM Jaya (20212022), the addition of house connections (SR) installed was only 37,003 for two years, with the percentage of service coverage recorded at 65.85 as of October 2022.

Since the management of piped water was fully taken over in 2023, PAM Jaya recorded an additional 13,641 SR which became an initial foothold for a major spike in the following year.

A year later, the addition achievement skyrocketed to 46,196 SR in 2024, and increased by 35,862 SR in just the first six months of 2025.

"In total, from 2023 to mid-2025, PAM Jaya managed to add 95,699 SR which means more than two and a half times compared to the achievement two years before the takeover," explained Arief.

This increase is also accompanied by infrastructure strengthening. The length of the distribution pipeline network increased from 12,120 km in 2022 to 12,600 km as of June 2025, expanding its reach to new areas.

The water production capacity from all water treatment plants (IPA) also increased from 20,757 liters per second (lps) to 22,651 lps, strengthening supply and equitable distribution of piped drinking water throughout Jakarta.

As of June 2025, PAM Jaya's piping drinking water service coverage has reached 72.69 percent and covers most areas in Jakarta. During the 2024-2025 period, PAM Jaya continued to expand service coverage by reaching new areas in Jakarta.

"PAM Jaya continues to be committed to expanding access, improving service quality and realizing the target of 100 percent coverage of piped drinking water in Jakarta by 2029," concluded Arief.
