Recruitment for the Jakarta Fire Department Opens Tomorrow, with Applicants Not Being Aspirants to Become Civil Servants

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Provincial Government will officially open registration for officers at the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat). There will be 1,000 firefighter positions available.

Their status will be as individual service providers (PJLP). The regulations stipulate that residents who apply to become firefighters and pass the selection process must commit to not seeking appointment as civil servants (ASN).

Mujiyono, Secretary of Commission A of the Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), believes this requirement needs to be emphasized from the beginning of the registration process to avoid future controversy.

"It needs to be made clear from the outset that the employment status is PJLP, so there is no automatic expectation of future appointment as civil servants. This is important to avoid creating false expectations among the public," Mujiyono told reporters on Monday, August 11.

Although residents from outside the region are allowed to register, Mujiyono also demanded that the Jakarta Provincial Government commit to prioritizing Jakarta residents.

"We believe Jakarta residents should still be prioritized," Mujiyono said.

There are several requirements for firefighter applicants, including:

A. General Requirements

1. Indonesian citizen (WNI)

2. Jakarta ID card preferred

3. Minimum age 18 years, 0 months, 0 days and maximum 30 years, 0 months, 0 days at the time of application

4. Have a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP)

5. Attach an application letter addressed to the Head of the Fire and Rescue Sub-Department in the target city

6. Attach a curriculum vitae/CV in the attached format

7. Attach two color photographs (4x6 cm) with a red background

8. Attach a scan of the original high school diploma (at least high school diploma/equivalent)

9. Attach a valid police clearance certificate (SKCK) from the Indonesian National Police

10. Attach a health certificate from a community health center/government hospital stating health, height, weight, and no color blindness

11. Registered as an active BPJS Kesehatan participant by attaching a colored photocopy of a valid BPJS Kesehatan card;

12. Sign a statement in the attached format, stating:

a) Not afraid of heights

b) Not afraid of darkness or narrow/confined spaces

c) Willing to accept wages based on the provisions of the Jakarta Provincial Government

d) Not demanding to be appointed as a civil servant

e) Never been unilaterally terminated for violating the PJLP contract agreement at the Jakarta Provincial Government

f) Only register with one Gulkarmat Sub-department; if you apply to more than one Gulkarmat Sub-department, your application will be disqualified

g) Not registered as a PJLP with the Jakarta Provincial Government

h) Will attach a Drug-Free Certificate from a government/private hospital/authorized agency after being declared successful.

i) Follow all stages of the recruitment process and, throughout the PJLP acceptance process, will adhere to all schedules, regulations, and procedures established by the committee and accept all committee decisions.

All committee decisions are final.

13. Possess a B1 driving license, which will be taken into consideration in the assessment.

B. Special Requirements

1. Male, physically and mentally healthy

2. Minimum high school education or equivalent

3. Minimum height 165 cm

4. Physically and mentally healthy, and not color blind

5. No fear of heights and no phobia of darkness/enclosed spaces

6. No tattoos or piercings

7. Meet the physical fitness/fitness test requirements

Registration is valid for three days, from August 12 to 14, 2025. The results of the administrative evaluation will be announced on August 15, 2025.

The verification of registration documents and requirements will be submitted from August 19-22, 2025, and the announcement of the verification of documents will be made on August 25.

Applicants who pass the administrative selection will undergo a physical test from August 26 to September 17, 2025.

The physical test will be conducted by the Jaya Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya) at Brigif 1/Jaya Sakti, Kalisari, East Jakarta. During this stage, applicants will undergo a physical fitness test (A) (12-minute run), physical fitness test (B) (pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, shuttle run), body posture (height and weight, anatomy, appearance), and 25-meter swimming agility.

The Jakarta Gulkarmat Agency will then announce the 1,000 successful applicants on September 18, 2025, followed by the signing of employment contracts on October 1, 2025.
