2 DPR Members Become Suspects Of BI CSR Funds, Golkar Legislators: Members Don't Hold Money At All

JAKARTA - Member of Commission XI DPR from the Golkar faction Melchias Markus Mekeng responded to the determination of two of his co-commission partners as suspects in the alleged corruption of social responsibility funds (CSR) of Bank Indonesia (BI) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

According to him, a member of the council, in this case Commission XII of the DPR as a partner of Bank Indonesia, has never held the CSR budget. He said that the funds were immediately given from BI to the party concerned.

"The CSR budget was not distributed to members. It was distributed directly to those who asked, for example houses of worship, churches, mosques, or MSMEs. Members never held money at all," said Mekeng at the DPR building, Friday, August 8.

"Members (Commission XIII DPR) only conveyed to Bank Indonesia, saying 'this is a mosque here asking for help'. It was processed directly by Bank Indonesia, the money went directly to the mosque. So there was no budget given to members," he continued.

Previously reported, the KPK named two suspects in the alleged corruption of social responsibility funds or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Bank Indonesia (BI). They are members of the DPR Gerindra Party faction Heri Gunawan and members of the DPR NasDem Party faction Satori.

"Numbers (investigation warrants, ed) 52 and 53. Yes, two (suspects, ed)," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, August 6.

Asep did not want to elaborate further on the issuance of the suspect's determination. He said more complete information would be conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo.

"Later it will be explained more completely by the spokesman. However, what is clear is that there are already suspects," he said.

The KPK previously mentioned members of the DPR from the NasDem Party faction Satori and members of the DPR from the Gerindra Party faction Heri Gunawan as suspects at the end of 2024. Later, the name was corrected because the investigation warrant (sprindik) issued was still common, meaning there were no suspects.

Even so, the Satori House in the Cirebon area, West Java has been searched by investigators. From the search process, investigators found documents allegedly related to the alleged corruption of BI CSR funds.

In addition, searches were also carried out at Heri Gunawan's house and evidence was found in the form of documents.

In this case, the KPK suspects that CSR BI funds flowed to a number of foundations affiliated with the two. The money later became an asset enjoyed by related parties.
