National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the number of hotspots or hotspots and land fires in the West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) region continued to decline.

The National Police Chief said this condition occurred because cross-sectoral management in West Kalimantan was running well related to the control of forest and land fires.

"Yesterday, there was still a hotspot, there would be approximately 32 if I'm not mistaken. For two days from yesterday until now it has decreased and the modification of the weather has also been successful. So this can also be very significant to help extinguish the existing hotspots," said Sigit at the BPPTD building, Mempawah, West Kalimantan, Friday, August 8.

In this regard, the handling and a number of strategic steps carried out by the Police, TNI, BNPB, BMKG, related agencies, volunteers and elements of society, especially in West Kalimantan, have been running well and compactly.

"So there has been a distribution regarding who is the ground task force. Then when the hotspots start to increase, there is an air task force that works equipped with Water Bombing and also takes advantage of weather modifications when there are clouds that can then be converted into rain," said Sigit.

Sigit also emphasized the issue of education and socialization to people who are still clearing land by burning. According to him, there are a number of rules that must be considered if you do this.

"Maybe I appeal because there is still local wisdom to clear land, please obey the existing rules. How to clear land in a local wisdom, of course, there are rules, there is a barrier line and then it must be monitored until it is finished and nothing is burned anymore," said Sigit.

Even so, Sigit hopes that the public can be given an understanding or education about the dangers of burning to clear land.

"These are certainly things that must also be considered. However, of course, our appeal is that it is better to clear land without the need to burn," added Sigit.

On the other hand, Sigit asked all parties in West Kalimantan to continue to maintain cohesiveness and synergy in order to prevent forest and land fires. Given, this is the attention of President Prabowo Subianto.

"So I thank you for the hard work of the entire team to join the forest and land fires task force. Because this is a concern from the President, I ask the team to maintain their cohesiveness and hopefully we can pass through the time until the end of August and forest fires can really be maintained," said Sigit.
