Jadetabek Blocking Scheme To Anticipate Homecoming

JAKARTA - The government regulation regarding the ban on going home will be implemented in big cities, especially Jakarta, on Friday, April 24. The National Police is preparing a road blockage scheme to prevent people from returning to their hometowns.

The road blockage in question is not a closure. Instead, there is a checkpoint point which will be used to check two- and four-wheeled drivers.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said that in implementing the ban on going home, there are at least 19 check points scattered in the Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jadetabek) areas. Of the dozens of checkpoint points, three of them are on the toll road.

The three of them are located at the Cikarang Barat Toll Gate towards West Java, the Cimanggis Toll Gate towards Bogor, and the Bitung Toll Gate towards Merak. Later, officers will be alerted to check the drivers.

"Polda Metro Jaya has prepared 19 integrated security post points, with 3 big points especially on toll roads," said Yusri in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 22.

Then, the Cikarang Elevated Toll Road will also be closed either from the Cikunir direction or in the city. This is done to prevent motorists from trying to outsmart officers. The plan, this closure will be carried out starting Thursday, April 23.

Meanwhile, other checkpoints are located on several arterial roads. However, the checkpoints are not in the Jakarta area, but in border areas.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Kombes Sambodo said, for the Tangerang City area, there are five checkpoint points scattered in Lippo Karawaci, Batu Ceper, Ciledug, Kebon Nanas, and Jatiuwung.

Furthermore, two checkpoints in the South Tangerang area are scattered on Jalan Raya Puspiptek and Kecamatan Curug.

For the Bekasi Regency area, there are four points recorded, namely, the border between Bogor and Cianjur to be precise in Cibarusah, the border of Karawang Regency in Kedung Waringin, Bojongmangu, and Kebayoran.

Meanwhile, the Bekasi City area has three points scattered in Sumber Arta, Bantar Gebang, and Cakung. Finally, there are two points for the Depok area, namely, Jalan Raya Bogor Cibinong and Citayam.

"There are 16 Integrated Pam posts as checkpoints on the arterial lanes of the toll road. At these points we will carry out checks and insulation," said Sambodo.

However, this rule does not apply to large vehicles such as trucks. It's just that the truck in question is a vehicle to transport daily necessities.

However, these trucks will be inspected first to ensure that the goods are being transported. If it is in accordance with the rules, the officers will invite the truck driver to continue the journey.

"So for trucks carrying goods, groceries for daily necessities and all kinds of things, it is permissible to pass. So once again the ban on going home is only for passenger transport, both private, public and motorbikes," said Sambodo.

The enforcement of this rule does not mean that Jakarta residents are prohibited from leaving the capital city. However, workers who live in Bekasi, Tangerang and Depok are welcome to Jakarta or vice versa.

This rule only applies to prohibiting people from leaving the Jadetabek area to return to their hometowns. The goal is to prevent the spread of the corona virus or COVID-19 from spreading

"What is limited is the movement of people out of the Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi areas," said Sambodo.

Regarding the sanctions that will be given to violators, said Sambodo, there is no clear legal umbrella. So, his party is still waiting for the government's decision.

For now, the form of sanction that will be given is asking motorists to turn back home or enter Jakarta and its surroundings.

"So at these points of isolation, those who will try to violate through Jabodetabek without this permit will be turned back to Jakarta," said Sambodo.
