The City Police (Polresta) of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, revealed that a Lion Air flight passenger named H (42) who threatened to carry a bomb on the JT-308 plane on the Jakarta-Kualanamu route, was previously secured by security forces in Merauke.

"The perpetrator was arrested by the Merauke Police for not paying the cost of staying at a hotel in the area," said Soetta Airport Police Chief Kombes Ronald Sipayung in Tangerang, Monday, August 4, 2025.

Based on the results of the investigation, said Ronald, that Lion Air passengers who threatened to carry bombs on the plane had previously also been undergoing treatment at Dr Suharto Heerdjan Mental Hospital, Jakarta for one month.

"Based on information from the family, the perpetrator was treated for one month at RSJ DR. Soeharto Heerdjan, Jakarta," he said.

However, his party will re-examine the psychological tests through a team of psychological experts from the Police Hospital to ensure the condition of the passengers who threatened the bomb.

"We have checked the person concerned or checked the urine. The results were negative for harmful substances, then the alcohol examination was also negative," he said.

He revealed that based on the results of the investigation to the person concerned, H, he admitted that he had traveled from Merauke to Makassar-Soetta Airport, Tangerang with the final destination of Kualanamu, Medan.

"He admitted that he flew the Merauke-Makassar route, then to Jakarta-Kualanamu," he said.

He said the motive for the incident of admitting the bomb was based on annoyance after undergoing a fairly intensive flight so that the psychological condition in question was unstable.

"During the examination process, the psychological condition was still unstable. I think the examination process was running as usual based on sufficient preliminary evidence," he said.
