Prabowo Issues Presidential Decree On Special Allowances Of IDR 30 Million For Specialist Doctors In Disadvantaged Areas

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 81 of 2025 concerning Special Allowances for Specialist Doctors, Subspecical Doctors, Specialist Dents and Subspecial Dental Doctors who work in Disadvantaged Areas, Borders and Islands (DTPK).

For the first stage, special allowances of IDR 30,012,000 per month are given to 1,100 specialist doctors, subspecialist doctors, specialist dentists, and subspecialist dentists at DTPK, especially those who practice in local government-owned health facilities.

"This policy is a form of appreciation and state presence for doctors who provide sincere service in areas with limited access," said Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi, Monday, August 4.

On the same occasion, Hasan continued to determine the priority area of recipients based on several criteria, namely areas with limited access, areas with a shortage of medical personnel, and locations that require affirmative intervention or support and assistance from the central government.

Not only special allowances, specialist doctors and subspecialists, as well as specialist dentists and subspecialists will also get the opportunity for tiered training and career coaching.

"Don't let the health workers we place in remote areas actually miss their development. They must still have access to training and education so that professionalism is maintained," said Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin last month (28/7).

The Minister of Health explained that special allowances for specialist doctors and subspecialist doctors in DTPK areas are a form of state alignment with doctors who serve in areas with limited access.

The government, continued the Minister of Health, realizes that equitable distribution of medical personnel in remote areas is still a big challenge so that those who are currently serving in remote areas need to receive fair, decent and sustainable incentives.

This special allowance is a form of appreciation from the state to medical personnel who are on the front lines. We want them to feel appreciated and remain motivated to provide the best service, wherever they serve," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

In Presidential Decree Number 81 of 2025, the special allowance given to doctors per month is outside the basic salary and other allowances that pass in accordance with the staffing provisions.

The government also encourages the active involvement of local governments to support this policy, especially regarding budget allocations, provision of logistics, and supporting facilities such as housing, transportation, and security for medical personnel.
