DPRD Parking Special Committee Calls Discourse On Online Parking Booking In Jakarta Needs Deep Study

Member of the Parking Special Committee (Pansus) of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Andri Santosa said that his party supports the discourse of a parking digitization system in Jakarta.

Where, in the future, people will be able to order or book parking of their private vehicles online in the on-street parking area or who park the road through the application on their respective cellphones.

"We from the DKI Jakarta DPRD Parking Committee appreciate the steps taken by the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency in conducting digital parking trials as an effort to modernize parking management in the city of Jakarta," Andri told reporters, Friday, August 1.

According to him, this technological-based innovation is expected to bring positive changes, especially in overcoming the problem of illegal parking which has been a big challenge in Jakarta.

Even so, Andri emphasized that the trial of the parking booking system must be accompanied by an in-depth study. Thus, the implementation does not end in the future.

"Until now, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has not provided a more detailed and in-depth presentation to the Parking Committee regarding the mechanisms, technology, and the impact of implementing this system," explained Andri.

"This deepening is important so that the policies that will be taken are really right on target and provide maximum benefits for the people of Jakarta," he continued.

Previously, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, revealed that his party was developing a parking booking system in the JakParkir application.

He explained that online parking bookings can be made before arriving at the parking location. However, when the parking area has been ordered, the duration of the parking use time has also begun to be calculated.

"Once he is in question of booking, then in the next few minutes it will be calculated starting from the margin of the road. (Recorded) that it has been calculated to be used," explained Syafrin.

Then, after the parking booking is made, the officer will receive a notification and immediately mark the parking lot that has been ordered.

"Our officer at the on-street parking location will receive a notification and immediately place the stick cone, (marking) that it has been booked," he said.

Furthermore, Syafrin admitted that the parking booking feature still needs time to be implemented carefully. The target is that all parking points in 244 Jakarta roads will have implemented this feature in the next two years.

"It needs to be studied first. We hope that 2027 will be implemented. 2027 includes the grand design of all of them," explained Syafrin.
