JAKARTA - The United States (US) was asked to provide compensation for the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities in June 2025.

Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, emphasized that compensation for the loss of his country's nuclear program is an important requirement if the US wants to continue the negotiation process.

"They (US) have to explain why they attacked us in the middle of [...] negotiations, and they have to make sure they won't do it again," he said in an interview with the Financial Times, quoted from TASS, Thursday, July 31.

"And they must compensate [Iran] for the damage they have caused," continued Araghchi.

Araghchi noted that the possibility of resumption of negotiations still exists. However, he continued, Iran's distrust of US diplomatic initiatives under President Donald Trump's leadership is deepening.

"People told me, 'Don't waste your time anymore, don't be fooled by them [...]. If they want to negotiate, it's just an attempt to cover up their other intentions,'" he said.

"With Europe, there is currently no reason to negotiate because they cannot lift sanctions, they cannot do anything," Araghchi added.
