JAKARTA - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun urged political party cadres in his country to lay down arms in order to smooth out the deal to get 10 billion dollars in aid from the United States (US) Government.
Quoting Reuters, Thursday, July 31, Aoun said Lebanon was in plans to seek USD 1 billion per year for 10 consecutive years to US President Donald Trump.
The assistance is to support the budget of the army and security forces in Lebanon. According to him, this opportunity should not be wasted.
To that end, Aoun pushed Lebanese political parties to strip them of arms as soon as possible. On the one hand, there is pressure from the US on Hezbollah to give up his weapon.
