Megawati: PDIP's Struggle Will Never End

PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri conveyed a firm and inspiring message to thousands of her party cadres during a technical guidance event (Bimtek) for the PDIP Faction throughout Indonesia at the Bali Beach Convention Center, Sanur, Denpasar, Wednesday, July 30.

In her burning speech, Megawati emphasized that the party struggle must not stop as long as the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is still standing. "As party members, our struggle will not be completed as long as the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia must remain. This is a big mandate, not only to me personally, but to all levels of the party," said the 5th president of the Republic of Indonesia loudly.

Megawati also reminded the importance of solidity and discipline of cadres at all levels. He invited all members of the PDIP legislature to continue to go to the field, listen to the voices of the people, and do real political work with the community.

He also warned all cadres not to be tempted by personal interests or deviate from party lines. "Don't weaken collective strength. Comply with the party's decisions and instill a spirit of mutual cooperation," he said.

On that occasion, Megawati quoted her father Bung Karno's message that a political party was the pillar of the state. He reminded that if the pole was fragile, the country could collapse.

"We have been colonized for 3.5 centuries. Do we want to be colonized again? Don't! Because the occupation was very sick," said Megawati, who was greeted by applause from thousands of cadres.

The Bimtek event was attended by around 3,200 participants, consisting of members of the DPR, Provincial DPRD, and district/city DPRD from the PDIP faction throughout Indonesia. In addition to receiving direct directions from party leaders, the participants also received information on strengthening the role of factions in legislative institutions.
