Current Conditions Report Tsunami Highs On The Coast Of Hawaii To California

JAKARTA - A number of areas in the United States were reported to have been hit by a tsunami caused by the Kamchatka earthquake, Russia. The highest tsunami reportedly occurred in Kahului, Hawaii, which was 1.7 meters.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that a number of areas had lifted tsunami warnings, including the Philippines, Guam, Mariana Islands to Japan, including Hokaido and Okinawa.

Citing a CNN report, the following is the highest tsunami wave reported on the United States coast until 05.30 am local time, Wednesday, July 30:

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there were no fatalities after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake on the Richter and tsunami scale in Kamchatka, Russia. The number of injured people was not mentioned.

The tsunami warning system functions "in time" so that people are evacuated when needed.

"In general, the resilience of the building earthquake is proven, so thankfully there were no casualties," Peskov said as quoted by CNN, Wednesday, July 30.

The Russian government lifted a tsunami threat warning on the Kamchatka Peninsula, where the earthquake occurred, according to state media TASS.

Severo-Kurilsky District, which is located on the southern tip of the peninsula, has also lifted its tsunami warning, the government said in a post on Telegram.

Earlier in the district, a tsunami wave hit the coastline, tearing the boat from its mooring and dredging the storage container, according to TASS.

Meanwhile, Valery Limarenko, governor of Russia's Sakhalin region, announced that there would be no more tsunami threats in the North Kuril Islands, the volcanic islands south of the peninsula in Russia's far east.

"The situation is starting to stabilize" and "all emergency services remain on standby," he said.
