Brazilian Drug Cartel Arrested Bringing 3 Kg Of Cocaine At I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) managed to arrest a drug cartel from Brazil with the initials YB at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, on July 13, 2025.

YB was involved as a drug courier from the Latin American network. He was arrested while trying to spread cocaine on Bali Tourism Island.

"Narcotics of cocaine are circulated by the South American cartel, a courier who was arrested from Brazil is fully controlled by his boss in South America," said Head of BNN RI, Martinus Hukom to reporters, Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

When arrested, suspect YB brought evidence of narcotics weighing 3,089.36 grams which will be distributed on the island of Bali.

"This amount shows the huge potential of the cocaine market in Bali," he said.

Apart from YB, BNNP Bali also arrested 4 other suspects for different cases.

There were 4 Indonesian citizens and 1 South African citizen who were arrested for distributing 2.3 kg of crystal methamphetamine.

This South African citizen with the initials IN was arrested in the airport Customs checkpoint area.

At that time, officers found evidence in the form of methamphetamine weighing 990.83 grams which was hidden in underwear.

Just so you know, during the period June-July 2025, the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency through its staff in the regions made disclosures in a number of areas. In total, 84 cases were revealed with 136 suspects.

The confiscated evidence included 2,019,819 grams of marijuana; 337,381.05 grams of crystal methamphetamine; 1.039.37 grams of ecstasy or the equivalent of 3,152 grains; then 3,089.36 grams of cocaine and 40.86 grams of synthetic marijuana. The total confiscated evidence was 561.94 kg.

All suspects are threatened with different articles, namely Article 114 (1), Sub-Article 112 (1), Sub-Article 111 (1) in conjunction with Article 132 (1) of Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. - Article 113 paragraph (1) or Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Article 114 paragraph (2) or Article 113 paragraph (2) or Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. - Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) sub Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The penalty imposed on the perpetrators is the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years.
